7Global Autonomy of Distributed Autonomous Systems

7.1. Introduction

We have presented autonomous systems that have a proto-self and a minimal self, systems that have strong autonomy. We shall present a major property of these systems, their deployment ability and the fact that, with their co-activation, they can together form an autonomous meta-system featuring the capacity to intentionally manage representations of its local representations.

7.2. Enhancement of an autonomous system by itself

Any artificial autonomous system developed with a proto-self or a minimal self must have, by certain of its tendencies, the need to open for communications towards systems it can access through networks. Such an autonomous system managing its proto-self can thus communicate with a system which is not autonomous, but which has an accessible object layer expressing its functionalities and its behavioral characteristics. Taking into account this external system, the autonomous system will then be able to exert its tendency to its functional enhancement. The simplest action for the autonomous system will then be the enhancement of its functionalities by integrating some of those of the apprehended external system, taking into account the compatibility with its own functionalities and the network communication means. It will thus enhance its functional capacities by adapting the new functionalities to its initial action framework. If the external system is strictly software, this enhancement ...
