jumpered (or jumpering)

Refers to the physical placement of shorting connectors on a board or card.

jumperless

A term used to describe devices that are configured via a software utility rather than by physical jumpers on the circuit board. Devices are increasingly moving away from jumpered configuration and toward jumperless configuration.
