9.1. Installing Windows 2000 Advanced Server

Perhaps the best way to understand how a network operating system works and how it is configured is to install it. In this project, you go through the steps involved in installing a network operating system. In this exercise, you install Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  • A system that includes a 2GB partition with at least 1GB of free space.

  • A copy of Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server. You can obtain a 120-day evaluation copy at www.microsoft.com/windows2000 or at www.microsoft.com/servers/evaluation/trial. You can either download a copy or order it on CD-ROM.
