Selecting an appropriate Nessus file is very important for performing any compliance scan, as the underlying syntax in NASL is customized for every audit file as per the operating system chosen. A Windows audit file would not work on Linux, and vice versa. To ensure that the right policy is selected, it is always recommend to check the operating system version to the last decimal point and select the policy for the closest available decimal.
