No matter what kind of computer you're using, the basic network configuration settings are the same: Either the computer obtains an IP address and related settings from the network's DHCP server, or it uses settings from the network configuration utility. The procedures in this chapter should give you enough information to set up a working network connection with any commonly used operating system.
