18.7. Trusted Network Connect

Trusted Network Connect (TNC) is an open standard developed by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG). One of the first standards devoted exclusively to NAC, TNC ensures vendor interoperability across the large number of elements associated with any NAC solution. These standards focus mainly on endpoint integrity, although the TCG has recently released standards that expand TNC to a broader role in a NAC environment, including standards such as IF-MAP, which provides for a close coordination between many network and security devices.

We describe TNC in further detail in Chapter 13.
