16.4. Seek Vendor Info and RFPs

After you educate yourself and identify your organization's core team, start looking at various vendors to come up with a short list of NAC vendors that you will invite in for further evaluation. Different organizations take different approaches to narrowing the list of vendors. Some organizations initiate design/sales meetings with interesting vendors to see how each vendor implementation fits with that organization's goals. Other organizations create Requests for Proposals (RFPs) that give each vendor a list of questions that they must respond to in a written fashion. Regardless of the approach, the goal of this step is to identify which vendors offer products that have sufficient functionality to meet the key goals of your NAC solution.
