Chapter 13. Formatting Numbers, Strings, and Dates

Although computers don't care about data types being represented as 0's and 1's, humans do, and so formatting of the data is essential for meaningful display. Formatting allows you to take routine data types such as numbers, dates, times, and strings and represent them in a format that is suitable for the end user.
