A Couple of Big Caveats

Before I dive into the subject matter of this chapter, I would be remiss if I didn't start with a couple of big caveats. First of all, the current implementation of .NET Enterprise Services appears to be just a stop gap. It may change significantly when Microsoft implements Enterprise Services on an entirely managed-code foundation. I think it is significant that, even though Microsoft has released a significantly improved version of COM+ with Windows XP (version 1.5 of COM+ ships with Windows XP), it has hardly promoted it at all. In fact, few people that I have talked to even know that there is a new version of COM+ in Windows XP.
