Recommendations Are Not the Same as Findings

The first purpose of a needs assessment study is to determine how a training intervention must affect job performance to meet business needs (training needs). The second purpose is to identify what else must change in the organization to support the desired performance (non-training needs). Both of these purposes should be addressed in the needs assessment recommendations. Chapter 6 addressed both training and non-training findings. This chapter continues with step 5 of the needs assessment process: the development of training and non-training recommendations (see figure 6-1).
