The Purposes of Training Needs Assessment Data Collection and Analysis

Training interventions are designed to help employee-learners master knowledge and skills, which in turn support their increased job performance, which in turn supports the business goals linked to that performance. Training needs assessment is the foundation that guarantees the eventual training design and delivery hit the mark—at all four needs assessment stages (see figure 1-1).

You will notice in figure 3-1 that this chapter addresses the fourth step in the training needs assessment process.
