H.6 Embedded Perl

Handling the Embedded Perl Interpreter (see Appendix G from page 669) is also easier in Nagios 3.0. It can be switched on or off with the parameter enable_embeded_perl in the main configuration file nagios.cfg. The parameter use_embedded_perl_implicitly controls whether a plugin should implicitly use the activated interpreter if there are no instructions to the contrary (see also G.2 Using ePN from page 672). In Nagios 2.x there was only the option of switching the interpreter on or off when compiling the Nagios system.
