G.3 The Testing Tool new_mini_epn
In its source code, Nagios includes two utilities that simulate an ePN environment, which considerably simplifies searching for errors: mini_epn and the more recent new_mini_epn. They are not absolutely identical in behavior to ePN, but this involves only a small number of exotic scenarios. In general the following applies: If a Nagios plugin does not run in the mini-interpreter, it won't run in the ePN either.
The two programs are located in the subdirectory ./contrib of the source code and are not installed automatically. If you want to use them, run
linux:nagios/contrib # make mini_epn ... linux:nagios/contrib # make new_mini_epn ...
but under no circumstances should you run make install! The Makefile in this ...
