Synopsis
TIMESTAMPDIFF(interval
,datetime
,datetime
)
This function returns the time
difference between the two times given but only for the interval
being compared. The intervals accepted are the same as those for the
TIMESTAMPADD( )
function. This function is
available as of Version 5 of MySQL.

This
SQL statement retrieves the current date and time and uses the
LAST_DAY( )
function to determine the date of the
last day of the month. Then TIMESTAMPDIFF( )
function determines the difference between the day of the date now
and the day for the date at the end of the month.
