JSON_REMOVE removes data from a JSON document.
Suppose you no longer need line5 in the address:
mysql> UPDATE emp_details SET details=JSON_REMOVE(details, "$.address.line5") WHERE emp_no = 1;Query OK, 1 row affected (0.04 sec)Rows matched: 1 Changed: 1 Warnings: 0
