5.4. Staffing to Support Operational Change Management

If new implementations represent one end of the performance-testing spectrum, the idea of supporting post–Go-Live functional and technical changes, also called operational changes, represents the other end. Certainly, you could lump any activity that represents a system change and occurs after Go-Live into this broad category. But I prefer to break out strategic changes—like those resulting from upgrades, consolidation efforts, and so on—from the tactical everyday or regularly scheduled operational updates to a system. Strategic changes are discussed in the final sections of this chapter; the management of tactical changes is covered next.
