1.3. My SAP Customers and Their Boats

Now that you understand my goal in writing this book, the perceptions I'm up against, and, to some extent, how I wrote this book, I think it's necessary to set the stage in terms of where SAP AG's customers are today (AG is Germany's equivalent for “Inc.,”by the way), and how they got there. To that end, I like to think of my own SAP customers as boat owners. Not in a bad way, as in “the two best days in their life were the day they bought their boat and the day they finally turned around and sold it,” but in a good way.
