Chapter 22. Using the Mac App Store

The safest way to buy and install software for your Macintosh is through the Mac App Store, because Apple verifies that any software posted on the Mac App Store does what it claims and isn’t a virus or other malicious software.

To use the Mac App Store, you need an Internet connection. Although you can purchase software through the Mac App Store, you can also download plenty of free programs as well. You can still install other software over the Internet or through DVDs, but the Mac App Store will likely be the safest and simplest method available for adding new programs to your Macintosh.
