Moving a File or Folder

You can move a file or folder in two ways, depending on whether you’re moving a file or folder on the same drive or between two different drives. To move a file or folder between folders on the same drive, do the following:

  1. Click the Finder icon on the Dock. The Finder window appears.

  2. Open the folder that contains the file or folder you want to move.

  3. Click the file or folder you want to move. (Hold down the key and click to select multiple files and folders.)

  4. Drag the selected file(s) or folder(s) over another folder on the same drive (either inside the right pane of the Finder window or over a folder in the sidebar) and wait ...
