Deleting a File or Folder

When you no longer need a file or folder, you can get rid of it to save space on your hard disk and keep things organized. Just remember that when you delete a folder, you also delete all files and folders within it. Before deleting a folder, be sure you want to delete everything inside that folder. You can play it safe by deleting files individually and then deleting the folder when it is empty.

Here’s how to delete a file or folder:

  1. Click the Finder icon on the Dock. The Finder window appears.

  2. Open the folder that contains the file or folder you want to delete.

  3. Click the file or folder you want to delete. (Hold down the key while clicking to select multiple files and folders.)

  4. Drag the selected file(s) or folder(s) over ...
