Downloading iTunes
The only way you can update your iPhone's firmware is to connect your iPhone to a computer and use the iTunes program. Every Macintosh comes with iTunes installed, but Windows PCs do not. If you use a PC running Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7, you must download iTunes from Apple's website at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
After you've installed iTunes on your Windows PC, you'll be ready to connect your iPhone and start working. (Mac users should periodically click the Apple menu and choose Software Update to download the latest version of iTunes.)
