The Harmonic Minor Scale

In the harmonic minor mode, the lower tetrachord is the same as the lower tetrachord in the natural minor mode. The upper tetrachord differs slightly because the seventh note of the scale—G—is sharpened to give note G#. Try playing the scale in Figure 11.2 through on the MIDI keyboard.

Alternatively, sequence it and listen to the scale as it rises and falls, as shown in Figure 11.3.
