  1. How would you describe the game sound designer’s role, as it relates to the overall success of a game?

I think, in relation to what role a sound designer plays in the gaming industry, first of all sound design in gaming is not really postproduction, it’s more part of the production process, in that the assets are created during production which will later be edited and mixed into the game. A sound designer’s major role is to create sound-designed assets that allow the player to have an interactive experience that sonically allows them to audibly submerge themselves into the illusion of the game.
