The Focus of This Book

This book is about making multiobjective decisions under uncertainty. It describes how to structure and solve these types of problems using ­spreadsheets. The techniques and examples used in this book cover the use of multiple evaluation measures, discrete and continuous value and utility functions, preference weights, and expected value and utility ­calculations.

Given the focus of this book, there is little emphasis on the ­development of decision trees to represent decision situations; however, this structure still underlies these decisions.
