Chapter 3 describes the OD framework in MPEG-4 as a powerful and flexible framework that serves the goal of separating the information about the content of ESs from the information on how to compose that content in the scene. The description of MPEG-4 streams can be very complex, ranging from SL and decoder configuration information to the definition of alternative and scalable content, use of IPMP tools, and object content information (OCI).
