3. move files & settings from another PC

The hardest thing about moving to a new computer is getting all your settings (your bookmarks, passwords, etc.) and files onto your new computer. Windows Vista takes the work out of this with software called Easy Transfer. This utility runs on both your new Windows Vista computer and your old Windows PC. It finds your files and settings, including Internet configurations, Windows system preferences, and application settings. Easy Transfer moves these files from your old Windows XP or Windows 2000 computer to your new computer using one of the following methods:

• The Easy Transfer Cable, a special USB cable that comes with software that you install on your old computer; this is the easiest option
