Chapter 34. Text and Graphics on a Path

InDesign lets you set text along a path, as you can in QuarkXPress and illustration programs.

Creating Path Type

InDesign’s text on a path works a bit differently than that in XPress. It doesn’t use specialized tools to create the path: Instead, you can use any of the path creation and editing tools which we describe in Chapter 8. You can place type along any path—even the edge of a frame (but not along compound paths).

When you want to change a regular path into a text path, choose the Path Type tool, normally hidden under the Type tool (or press Shift-T).
