Chapter 10. Moving and Transforming Objects

Apart from selecting objects or editing text, most of us probably spend more time moving and transforming objects on the page than any other activity. That makes this is a particularly important chapter.

The Transform and Control Palettes

QuarkXPress uses a Measurement palette to move or transform objects, and PageMaker uses a Control palette. InDesign CS lets you move and resize objects with either the Transform palette or the Control palette. These palettes provide two essential functions: First, they provide precise data about an object’s position, size, angle, and so on. Second, they provide the ability to numerically transform these attributes (see Figure 10-1).
