Finding Out Which Opportunities They Want

The simplest way to find out what Joan, or any employee, thinks is an exciting opportunity to succeed is to ask.

Joan knows what turns her on. If asked to choose between two tasks, for example, she would be able to tell you which one seems like the better opportunity for her based on her interests and career goals. Also, she would be able to tell you if there are any reasons why a particular job does not meet the criteria necessary to make it a motivational opportunity.
