Appendix A. Measuring and Tracking Job Motivation Levels

  1. Measure the overall level of job motivation in your group of employees on an ongoing basis.

  2. Use your measurement system as a source of feedback about your own performance as a motivational manager.

  3. Use your measurement system as an indicator of the impact of external events that might damage motivation—and set goals for responding effectively to these events.

  4. Target specific indicators of low motivation and use the most appropriate motivational management methods to raise them.

  5. Tell quickly how self-motivated and enthusiastic a group of employees is, just by observing them.
