Ken Blanchard, the coauthor of The One Minute Manager and many other good books on management, likes to say that ''feedback is the breakfast of champions.'' The JML Inventory is one form of feedback you can use to see how well your motivational management is going. It's a good method in part because it is informative—it puts a simple, repeatable measurement in front of you for you to use in tracking motivation level. (Keep in mind however that this measure is only partially controllable by you. There may be occasional events beyond your control that affect it, in which case you will need to compensate for these events. But that's okay if you remember that much of the time you can and do control the level of your employees' motivation.) ...
