1. Think of specific ways that you can reward, recognize, and reinforce the kind of behaviors and performance that you desire from your employees. Look for ways to do one or more of these things each day.

2. Ask your staff members, one at a time or as a group, what they would value most as rewards for excellent performance. They will often tell you exactly what you need to do more of to elicit the very best work from each person.
