ACTION EXERCISES

1. When you interview prospective employees, watch for and wait for them to express an intense desire to work with you and for the company. Never hire anyone that you have to coax or talk into taking the job.

2. From now on, whenever you hire new employees, be sure that you start them off with a list of jobs to be done from the very first day. Be sure, also, to take new people under your wing to teach them the job and help them to become established as hardworking and valuable members of the team. If you, as manager, don’t have time to provide this hands-on training and support, be sure to assign it to someone else.
