Listening Is Powerful

Listening has been called “white magic” because it has an almost magical effect on making people feel terrific about themselves. When you listen to other people, you “pay value” to them and make them feel more important and worthwhile.

On average, managers spend 60 percent or more of their time in meetings and conversation with staff members and superiors. The more and the better you listen, the more aware you will be of what is going on, the faster you will sense problems or difficulties that you can help to resolve, and the more relaxed and confident your people will be in your presence.
