Take an Active Interest

One of the most powerful motivational factors in the world of work is for you to take an active interest in the careers of the people who report to you. Because you are busy, you probably do not have enough time to sit and chat with junior employees for long periods. Instead, you can be a mentor in short bursts of a few minutes by taking the time to give a little guidance and point them in the right direction.

If you are serious about becoming a mentor, take the time to pick one or two people in your company and then become a guide, friend, coach, and counselor to them.
