You are the manager and have people reporting to you because you have probably demonstrated your ability to do many of the jobs that you now delegate and assign to other people.

Because you have demonstrated competence in doing a particular job, you often find yourself tempted to get involved in the task, even when you have assigned it to someone else. A major weakness in managers is that, after they have been promoted, they often revert back to doing some of their old tasks, those very tasks that should be delegated to others to free up the manager’s time for the special responsibilities of the new position.
