Importing and Configuring User Profiles

The MOSS user profile database is empty OOB. MOSS provides two basic methods for loading user profiles: manually or automatically. Loading manually is not practical, so we’ll focus on MOSS’s automatic features.

Just like English is the common language of the business world, computer systems use a common language to talk to each other about user profiles. In MOSS’s case, that language is called Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).
