The .NET Security Concept

For .NET, Microsoft has designed a completely new concept, which seems to be unique. The new concept is called code-based security. The idea behind the concept is comparatively simple, yet powerful: Certain components are allowed to perform certain tasks. In terms of networks, this makes sense because people use components from many different vendors.

Mono does not currently support most of the features we describe in this chapter, but it's important to have at least an impression of what we'll see in upcoming releases of Mono. We examine the key features proposed by Microsoft so that you can see what we can expect from Mono.
