Summary

The earlier chapters were all focused on the Opsview server, and we now had some time to look at the client side of monitoring. We saw some different ways of monitoring using agents or by monitoring agentless and using techniques such as WMI, SSH, and SNMP (including host interfaces). We had a quick look at virtualization and Cloud-based checks that come with Opsview.

Finally we looked at the modules that are shipped with Opsview, which we can use to gather more information from our network or visualize our various systems.

In the next chapter, we will be looking at how we can use Opsview in combination with our smartphones or tablets to provide us with a permanent link to our system even when we are out of office.
