Testing from the WebUI

Sometimes we find that after creating a service check we might need to tweak some settings (usually thresholds), but running all kinds of variations from the command-line might not be possible (for instance, if you want your users to test and come up with recommendations).

Opsview has three specific privileges that you can assign to a role for this case (in the Status Access tab of the role), and these are TESTSOME, TESTALL, and TESTCHANGE.

Of these three, the TESTCHANGE setting is the most important as it allows the users to modify parameters before executing the test (so they can, for instance, test various warnings or critical thresholds).
