Configuring notifications

Now, having all this monitoring power at your disposal is great; but what if you would like it to alert you when something is wrong, so that you don't have to watch the screen every second?

This is where the notifications come in, as Opsview allows each user to define their own notification profile or use a shared profile (which can be assigned by an admin).

The most common form of notification is to notify by e-mail.

For the notify_by_email functionality to work, the system must be able to send e-mails as the user Nagios.

To test if the e-mail is configured correctly, run the following command as the user nagios:

'date | /usr/bin/Mail -s "Subject" user@address'
