Even more than Exchange Server 2003, Exchange Server 2007 is a very large application. Although Exchange Server 2007 had some relatively minor feature reductions, it also saw a huge increase in the number of added features, especially in the areas of disaster recovery, management and administration, and operational resilience.

As an application, Exchange Server 2007 depends even more strongly on Active Directory than Exchange Server 2003.
