About the Authors

Jack Clark Francis was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and received his BA and MBA from Indiana University. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, was commissioned as a lieutenant, graduated from paratrooper school, and was a company commander as he served two years of active duty. He then earned his PhD in finance from the University of Washington in Seattle. Francis was Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finance for five years. He was also a Federal Reserve economist for two years. He did monetary economics research, participated in monetary policy discussions, and spoke at numerous bankers' meetings while at the Fed. Currently, he is Professor of Economics and Finance at Bernard M. Baruch College in New York City. Dr. Francis authored and coauthored 22 books published by McGraw-Hill, Prentice-Hall, John Wiley & Sons, and Irwin publishing companies. Professor Francis's research focuses on investments, banking, and monetary economics. He has had dozens of research articles published in many refereed academic, business, and government journals. He periodically works as an expert witness and consultant. He resides in Stamford, Connecticut with his wife, Brenda.
