6.21.  COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE SOFTWARE PACKAGES FOR COMPUTER-AIDED CONTROL-SYSTEM DESIGN

We have shown in this chapter how to determine the results for obtaining stability analysis analytically and by means of a digital computer. The two approaches shown for obtaining digital computer results were the use of MATLAB (which has now become, more or less, the industry standard) or a dedicated programs (written in Fortran or Basic) provided in this book for those readers who do not have access to MATLAB. For example, the following sections were dedicated to providing MATLAB programs:

The Modern Control System Theory and Design Toolbox, available to the readers of this book through The MathWorks anonymous FTP server at ftp://ftp.mathworks.com/pub/books/shinners, also contains the MATLAB m-files to most of the figures and problems in this book, a demonstration m-file, tutorial file, synopsis file, and online help. In addition, the following sections contained dedicated programs written in Fortran and/or Basic:
