Appendix A

The Value Specification Language (VSL)

This appendix provides a quick overview of the Value Specification Language (VSL), which is included with the MARTE profile to allow specification of complex quality of service (QoS) values. This capability is absolutely crucial for model analysis and is also useful in specifying real-time systems. The text explains where VSL can be applied and includes a short user guide for the most useful VSL features. This chapter concludes with a discussion of potential alternatives to VSL.
