Summary

In this chapter, we walked through the process of creating simple applications for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. For each of them we touched on how to set up your environments and create a new project, as well as exploring the basic building blocks available to build applications on them. For iOS and Android, we also looked at what MonoTouch and Mono for Android provide and how they interact with the native platform to allow you to write native applications while taking advantage of the .NET Framework. We have only scratched the surface of what each platform has to offer, but hopefully you’re starting to get a feel for how to work with each of them. As you build out more applications in later chapters, things should start to feel more familiar. In the next chapter, we will start to explore various techniques for sharing code across all three platforms.
