The need to deliver multimedia content to mobile devices has given rise to a number of technologies. These are based on the use of different types of networks such as 3G, mobile TV broadcast, or IP-based networks and have been briefly described in Chapter 14. The emergence of these technologies is a reflection on the growth of new capabilities of mobile cellular and wireless networks.
