Building the raw Balance
8.1 ORDER, ORDER!
The order in which you mix the different instruments and sections within your production can have huge consequences for the final sonics, so the first way you can make sense of the mixing process is by working out where to start.
Start with the Most Important Section
Almost every piece of music worth the name has sections that can be considered emotional high points, and a series of drop-downs and buildups connecting them. Your job at the mix is to support this natural ebb and flow (sometimes called the âlong-term mix dynamicsâ), while reserving the greatest musical intensity for the production's most climactic section.
