Choosing the equipment that allows you to hear (or “monitor”) your mix signal is not a task to be taken lightly, because it's the window through which you'll be viewing everything you do. For those on a strict budget, however, the unappetizing reality is that monitoring is one of those areas of audio technology where the amount of cash you're prepared to splash really makes a difference.
