Chapter 4. Special Effects

This chapter deals with a handful of effects that don’t fit neatly into any other category, including chorus, flange, and de-essing. These processes can be used for both creative and corrective purposes. The category could be extended to include distortion, automatic pitch correction, amp modeling, microphone modeling, and other effects. Pro Tools LE 8 includes a variety of such effects—I’ll cover a few essentials, but you’ll want to devote some serious time to exploring the entire AIR Creative Collection, which are all new in Pro Tools 8.
